12 More Sleeps.

I have given up almost everything in order to make a record. Only 12 more sleeps and then I am in the studio. I have my van to live in and 20 cans of tuna. I am so excited! It is brisk out and fall is on it's way. I am currently residing in a little cabin in the woods with no phone and some electricity. It is perfect for a prerecord breather. Inspiration comes from no toilet, a freshette, and my faithful van. Soon and very soon.

My Birthday

Today is a beautiful day. I am one year older but I feel one year younger. So many people, so much music. My brain is full of new ideas for music and stories. The Ottawa FOlk Fest took me to the next level. My highlight was Sunday night, playing with Rick Fines, Penny Lang, Chris Frye, Joe Grass, Glen (from the Bills), Dave Clarke, and Slavek Hanzlik. We each did our own songs with everyone guesting on them. It was magical. I will post a clip of it soon.
Now I am here is Quebec waiting for my ride to the airport. I can't wait to see my Apple cuz I have so mnay more ideas to sort out and get down in Garage Band. I am going to be a west coaster soon. Yay.

Two Fish

So I paddled my canoe around and around and finally managed to catch two fish- two beautiful Rainbow Trout. It was grand to be self propelled and providing for my family. I am done farming and am now on my way to the Ottawa Folkfest. Looks like it is going to be a great one this year. Dustin informed me he is wearing his tightest pants and best rock hair. I shall be wearing my new skirt and sparkle shirt with cowboy boots. Yummy. I just did a photo shoot in my farm yard with Jason Shafto and wore my old rodeo boots. It feels strange to be shooting for a roots album verses a rock album. I have to look natural. No ozzy eyes, no tight leather, no dog collars. I kinda like it. My dogs managed to sneak their way into every picture no matter how hard we tried to get them to go home. I guess they are apart of who I am so whatever. okay, Gotta catch my flight. See you all in Ottawa.

Around and Around I Go.

I am at home driving my pink tractor around and around and around. It is helping me to finish my lyrics as repetition is what I need to get out that perfect line. The farm is so beautiful right now. Lush green forests on one side and crystal clear water on the other. Went riding on my fat horse for the first time in 4 months and she almost had a heart attack. And Digger the dog, stove up in the back end. So sad to see the changes as I return home. All of my childhood heroes slowly growing old. Dad and I are almost done haying. Yesterday I raked the windrows for 3 hours and then a giant storm came and blew them all down the hill. So that means another 3 hours today when I could be fishing.
Got a new member in my musical family... a mandolin. Whoa baby. I have been picking up a storm and tonight is a family jam. It is a toss up between the bass fiddle and the mandolin as my heart is with both.
I am so excited for my new album. So excited and feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do this. Wow, I am getting to mushy in the old age!
