I have just returned from a lovely twilight stroll from Clos du Pont to La Gonterie. I petted a horse, a dog ,and almost got run into by a bat. It has been a lovely time off in France. I have cycled many miles on my road bike, seen many great sunsets, ate cheese, drank wine, jammed with friends, spoke limited french, and learned how to pick off ticks. Yes, it is full on tick season here. One walk out to the bush and I will soon feel the itch of a tick embedding itself into my skin.
I have a few more days left and then it is off to Paris where I will eat a Crepe and drink a Perrier under a hot sun.
I am learning to live with ants in southern France. I moved in to the top floor of Clos du Pont and an hour later had an entire ant colony in my rucksack. They then proceeded to move into my bed and throughout my sheets. So I was a little concerned but then after removing them from the sheets for bedtime I noticed that they were very polite and went back to the backpack until morning. When I awoke I was intrigued to see a front line of ants awaiting my departure so that they could take over the bed again. So I am cool with it and am jealous of their synchronistic work patterns. If only we could adapt these ways for band recordings and touring.
Sweden and Norway were wonderful. We drove Shirley, the new tour van, a million miles within 3 days. Each show was seriously positive with good turn outs and lots of support. My favorite show was at Katalin in Uppsala. Why? Because the fans are so AMAZING and we played the best show we have every played. Graham was a monster as was his sidekick Hamish. Thanks boys. We were fed gourmet meals, given each a hotel room fit for a princess, and treated royally. Oh and Vaxjo? Wow, great salmon! Fun bunk beds! And Johan...your sound was spectacular. Ingemar was our more than considerate host. Oslo was fun too but we were too tired to really enjoy it. Thank you to Jan Willey for the show and excellent hospitality.
Finally, I love you Hans, Magnus, and Toby for your hard work at Marilyn Records! xoxox
I am fried. Many miles of traveling up down and around in our new tour van, Shirley. Had tons of fun and played some great music with my men, Graham and Hamish. Thank you to everyone for your support and to Marilyn Records for Shirley the tour van. Thank you to all of our soundmen who made us sound so good.Thank you to the good peeps who came out and bought the records, wore the pins, and danced with their hands in the air. I am going to bed now for a few hours before catching my flight from Copenhagen. More details to follow.
