Last night was a reaffirmation for me that G/Robes/Eggy Chaos is an amazingly talented drummer. He drummed for Garth and Maud Hudson along with his GoldRush guys in London at the 100 CLub and I was rocking out nonstop. Solid and tasty are the words that come to mind. Had a wonderful night air drumming alongside Heloise and Mick.
"We approach Rachelle Van Zanten with a little
caution. That is an acoustic guitar and a distinctive
country lilt we can hear after all. Just as we're
deciding to move on, she breaks out some of the
most spine-tingling blues slide guitar we've ever
heard. It's guttural and primal and dripping in
grime. We absolute love it."

Am recovering from the Truck Festival in Steventon. It was so much fun despite the rain and wind near the end of the day. G and I played a duo set to a solid crowd in the barn. We missed Hamish's low end but hung on without him. In the evening we had the priviledge of sharing the stage with Garth and Maud Hudson. That was a big life highlight.
Norwich was the worst gig experience of my life unfortunately but I am putting it behind me. The people in the crowd were sweet and supportive and that helped me get through the night. 92 decibals. Argh.
Now I am off to the Southwest for a couple days of R & R.

I am awaiting soundcheck at the Troubadour in London. Today was first day catching the TUBE and it was very painless. Robes and Hamish are out on the motorway somewhere close to London. I have just received an SMS that a sausage roll is in order for the their arrival so that energy levels will be adequate for unloading gear. 36 stairs...counted..accounted for. I am enjoying having my band with me for these few shows. Makes for some fun!

"Burns like bumblebee queen...Rachelle van Zanten plays with her instrument like it was an extension of her own body...She creates songs that swing between heavy blues riffs
and fragile melodies with poetic lyrics and irresistible phrases." by Anna SimmsRead it!
Crows, lots of crows flying to a treed hill in the distance. I am surrounded by blackberry bushes, apple trees, and plum trees. Ideal really considering I need to get in shape for the next leg of dates.
Copenhagen was wierd....the sound kept shuttting off during our set because it had a loud meter hooked into the main power supply. It was hard to gel as a band because we were constantly looking at the meter waiting for it to cack out. Kack? khack? Je ne sais pas. Anyhow, I love MOJO and the people that run the place and listen to the music. Thank you to Marilyn Records for your hard work and gracious hosting. There is Toby. You can see him.

Robes (drummer) is somewhere out there. Not sure where. I saw him last at 4 am after a 2 hour soak in the hot tub that overlooked the baltic sea. And Hamish (bass)...I think he is up the road in the garage. I was warm and cozy in a mom bed. I knew it was a mom bed because of the wall hangings and stuff in the nooks and crannies. It felt good...safe. We are on a day off in Varmdo which is 35 minutes away from Stockholm. The house where are residing is UNBELIEVABLE! It reminds of my days hanging at Randy Bachman's house except that this house has a coffee maker.
We played the Harley Davidson Ferry last night. I had to hold on for dear life as a storm was abrewing. Some of the fans from Uppsala came which was SO COOL! Thanks guys. I love you. Thank you to Lars for letting me play your '62 Strat and '70 something Strat. Oh matee. I was in heaven.
Speaking of Uppsala, I love you Katalin. The food, the people, the beds. Ohh I tell you I am NEVER touring the States again. Actually I have to but it will be hard after the luxury I have encountered here. Oh and Karlstad! Same thing. We drove to the edge of a gorgeous lake and there it was, Cafe August. What an AMAZING night! And they even had Semlor for us at coffee time:)
Anyhow, I can smell breakie so I am going to get warm clothes on and go write some lyrics by the sea. I love you mom. Miss you all back home.

Berlin was absolutely fab! Two sold out shows, lots of great people, radio time, newspaper time, and Berlin Guitars time. I could not have asked for a better experience. I even managed to pull off the jetlag with my good friend coffee. Now it is Swede time with the band. We played Helsingborg on friday and then had 4 days off. Argh. So we kept our chins up, booked some rehearsing time and now have loads of new tunes. This is exciting. Thank you Gustav for lending us your space and gear. Oh and today we went bowling. I lost of course. The guys spent serious time in the States at the lanes. I am an amateur.
"Not only is she a great singer/songwriter but also one hell of a slide player...this is music that grows even more when it is live...she enters the stage and starts out full on with her own mix of blues rock and folk." Read
Boogie, Blues, Rock'n' Roll. The Farmer's Daughter from British Columbia has it all, inescapably Led Zeppelin. Van Zanten works more natively, genuinly, with much charm and humor. And it has also still another lyrical side, with a slope to Joni Mitchells "Blue" - phase. She is engaged in environmental awareness with a strong voice. A discovery. H.P. Daniels Read.
