Gothenberg to Odense Back to Helsingborg...

My head is spinning. Trams to trains to tour buses to ferries to motorways to gigs and then all over again in reverse. But we did it. Helena and I managed to pull off two splendid shows. Tonight was my favorite...playing alongside some of southern Sweden's finest songwriters. Somehow it all came together and made sense and everyone left feeling inspired. Tonight we walked back to our safe beds with our gear in arms, exhausted but happy with the lamplights guiding our way. Helsingborg is magical with its giant trees, castle, and salty air. My heart felt twinges of joy as I was reminded why I pack my bags and leave the very place that feeds my music. I do it to get fed another kind of drug.

Gothenberg, Sweden

I found a gem. Not only have I located a wonderful friend, but I have also found a mecca of trails in a forest! Ask and ye shall receive. Ahhhh. So Helena noticed my entire being change after I returned from a frolic on the Swedish forest. I don't know exactly what the trees are here, but they look like a red pine. I need to ask someone. Today is rehearsal day and then tomorrow we rock Denmark. Oh and I think I might be playing a puppet theatre in Stuttgart!

Uppsala Uppsala

Did I mention how much I love the fish dishes in Sweden? Once again the salmon made my night. Hijazz has incredible food and incredible people. Essam treated me like a goddess and Celal blessed me with some added percussion on Take Me Right Back. Thank you Anders for the perfect sound once again. The boys of Fem Blo Broder kicked serious grooves as the opener.
I am now in Gothenberg finding a game plan. Lots of places to go yet and trains and planes to book. I need to quit the coffee for awhile and find some running trails.

Karlstad and Beautiful Cafe August.

I made it! I can't believe that I made it! Well actually I can but it was much too easy. My flight from Toronto was on time as well as the flight from Frankfurt to Stockholm. My train connections were tickety boo. My taxi driver from Hotel Drott to Cafe August was sweet. My show was superb with a full house of music loving Swedish babes. The lax (salmon) were to die for as was the Mariestad beer. My sleep was slightly fitful and confusing but was on a Swedish bed. I LOVE swedish beds. AND I found my favorite CRAFT underwear for a third of the price in Canada. I LOVE SWEDISH UNDERWEAR! I bought Hamish a pair of bowling underwear in yellow and blue once. He loved them. So now I am on to Uppsala Uppsala Uppsala. Oh I miss Graham and Hamish. They have a song called Uppsala. They are saving it for "The Asparagus Window"- an album dedicated to simple thoughts rarely thought about unless you happen to be them.
I miss you Maude...hopefully you haven't been eaten by a coyote yet:)

I am sitting in Toronto checking the updates on flights to Europe. I am not worried about much. Just curious as to where I will end up. So far I have lost one show in Toronto due to half the bill being stuck in St. John's. Hope you are making the best of it, Treassa.

Missing Hazelton...

I feel the love up here. The people, the mountains, the streams, the karaoke. I am feeling that me and my chainsaw need to come up here again and learn how to carve a beaver in a stump or something. My gig is canceled tonight due to the passing of an elder in the village. My heart goes out to the family. I will take this as an opportunity to get my life together for the next journey. Washing clothes, chopping wood, and finding my cat are on the list.
I have heard word that the locals have baked me puffed wheat squares and nanaimo bars for the show tonight. How sweet. How thoughtful. I am so loved. Shannon is going to freeze them for me so that I can partake upon my return.
