Over the Big Blue

I was emotionally exhausted last night but today I am back, ready for Calgary and the Emerald Award Show. It feels good to be back on Canadian soil where Cheezies are readily available at most vending machines and quicky shops. Thanks to my good brother and top of the low end musical compadre, Hamish Wall aka Gary Sick, I made it to Heathrow early and safe. We parted with mist in our eyes and then it was time for the madness. Much to my surprise, there was no madness. Just easy breezy cover girl queues, happy Air Canada agents, one extra baggage fee of £30 (quiver), and free wine once on board. I watched "Frozen" which is a movie about 3 college kids who get stuck in a chair lift and end up getting eaten by wolves. It was scary. Then they let me back in the country which is always a huge relief. I shall now folk out for the oil companies singing of my love for the land and its resources and then I shall make my way back to the Northwest of British Columbia.

Corsham to Glasters to Swindon

I got a taste of the Southwest this weekend. Had excellent pizza before playing a sweaty hot show for the good people of Wiltshire. Thank you Rob for putting on the show. Made my way to Glastonbury thanks to my chauffeur, Mr. Bryan. The Tor made me squeal like a pig on fresh truffles. Did my 24 hours of rehab in Glasters before setting off to Swindon where I was greeted by a packed house of music loving Lovelies. Walked in the rain to the station the next morning to a queue of late trains. Finally arrived in Oxford for my final day in the UK. Dear Goddess Ashcloud, please lay sleeping for a few more days. Currently being tortured by Hamish's offspring.

Bavaria to UK

The Bluesfest in Ingolstadt was a perfect way to end the German leg of dates. Tom, Willy, and myself were greeted by a packed house of hard core music lovers. We played a long night and lucky for me, my stomach held out for the most of it. The rush from the show soon wore off as soon as I thought about my flight to the UK the next day. I was stressed about my 40kg of luggage (mostly CDs and gear) and the strict baggage policies on my favorite airline, Easy Jet. Weirdly enough, the rock gods were on my side. I got to the Munich airport where not one line up awaited me and a smiling Easy Jet agent checked in my scheisse without even batting an eye. I gave thanks. Stress levels down. After 10 hours of travel on planes, trains, and cars I made it to Oxford where the next journey would be begin.
Winchester was packed out as well. Thank you drummer Ben for learning the tunes and doing a killer job. Hamish was solid and soulful as well. SO lucky. Now we are up in Kendal in the Lake District. We played to a completely enthusiastic crowd at the Brewery Arts Centre last night and once again Tim Turan and Hamish did a fantastic job at rocking with most excellent groove. My heart was very heavy after the news of the shootings only miles away. I hope the show brought some joy to Cumbria.
