Portland Portland

I just watched the rough cut of the "My Country" music video filmed mostly by Taylor Fox. I cried and so did Shannon McPhail, my current sidekick. It nails the reason why I originally wrote the song. Incredible. I can not wait for you all to see it. Soon.
We have been traveling through the NW of U.S. and had an awesome show in Seattle with Wade Davis as our guest speaker. He nailed it. I love that man. That being said I am now in hot pursuit of "The Wayfinders" after "The Serpent and the Rainbow" consumed me for days. Last night we rocked Portland too. Good people. I miss the rest of the crew though. It isn't the same without Ali, Brian, and Lewis.
Today is bookstore, big trail run, and drive to Spokane day. Should be fun:) If you get the chance, try to find the song "Portland" by Bill Bourne.

Council Meetings and Such and Such

Last night I attended the Burns Lake Council Meeting. My aim was to ask council to take a stand on protecting our waters from a possible environmental disaster should the twin pipeline get put through. I spent the entire day writing my speech and then when the time came, I took a deep breath and let the song "My Country" deliver the message. I then finished by asking our Northern Leaders to get off the fence and take a stand for the land and its people. I personally do not want to be a bedfellow with Enbridge even if Ray Doering has a great smile.
I listened to this interview on CBC with Alexandra Morton on Saving the Salmon and it changed my life. Please listen: http://www.cbc.ca/ideas/episodes/2011/01/10/saving-salmon/

Snow Everyday.

I have not seen so much snowfall in awhile. It's comforting to know that a good snow pack may indeed mean a drought free summer. The forest fires last season were scary, smoky, and dangereuse.
I am taking some time off from the road to ski, coach kids, chop firewood, and generally live a stable life. New songs are coming to me everyday so I look forward to a new album for 2012. I think this one is going to come with visuals. Ootsa to Tow Hill or something of the sort.
